Marlow-based R Jameson Event Transport has taken delivery of two new Volvo FH 500 Globetrotter XL 4x2 tractor units, marking the first time the company has ordered new trucks from the Swedish manufacturer.
R Jameson Event Transport has added two new high-spec Volvo FH 500 Globetrotter XL 4x2 tractor units to its fleet.
Supplied by Ian Sharrock, Key Account Manager at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East, the two FHs expand the customer’s fleet to 19 vehicles.
Business owner, Richard Jameson, says: “We have experience working with multiple brands, but we have found Volvo’s overall attitude to customer service is second to none. From our very first conversations with Ian and the rest of the team it was instantly clear everyone understood exactly what challenges we faced and how Volvo could solve them simply and effectively.

Each truck is powered by a Euro-VI compliant D13K Step E engine, producing 500 hp and a peak torque of 2,500 Nm. They are driven by Volvo’s popular automated 12-speed I-Shift gearbox, which constantly evaluates information about speed, weight, road grade and torque demand to enable perfectly timed gearshifts.
As R Jameson’s work takes its drivers across the UK and into Europe, the new Volvos have been specified firmly with driver comfort in mind.
The luxurious Globetrotter XL cabs have been fitted with a Drive+ package, adding dual armrests on both driver and passenger seats, electrically controlled roof hatch and adjustable steering wheel with neck tilt.
The trucks also include ample storage space with 245-litres on offer in the rear of the cab, a 33-litre fridge, a microwave, two bottle holders and a premium 50mm mattress overlay protector, all courtesy of a one bed Living+ package. A suspended and heated driver’s seat is installed, complementing the trucks’ full air suspension, to guarantee a smooth and comfortable ride.
Volvo’s intelligent overnight air conditioning system – I-Park Cool – has also been selected, to ensure R Jameson’s drivers can sleep at their chosen temperature overnight whatever the weather without impacting fuel consumption.
The driving experience is further enhanced through a media pack with navigation, including a high performance 12” fully dynamic instrument cluster with a secondary colour display and DAB radio. R Jameson has added a Visibility+ package to include electrically heated and operated main and wide-angle mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and LED headlamps to grant its drivers a clear view of the road.
“Our drivers put in quite the stint, so it is only right that they are given the most comfortable working environment possible,” says Jameson. “We’re also acutely aware that our fleet is our image – opting for such a luxurious spec and premium vehicle brand is our way of advertising that we are serious about our work.”
Established in 2005, R Jameson Event Transport provides transport solutions for the entertainment and corporate industries. Jameson expects his new vehicles – backed by a Volvo Blue Contract including all preventative maintenance – to cover 75,000km a year.
